George "Bugs" Moran

A Minnesota of French-Canadian ancestry, George “Bugs” Moran was not cut out to lead Chicago North Side gang. But when Dean O’Banion, Hymie Weiss and Schemer Drucci all died violent deaths, Moran found himself in charge. He was neither smart enough nor bold enough to pose much of a threat to Capone’s organization, which is why it seems unlikely that Capone would have ordered a reckless hit on Moran and his mob on February 14, 1929. He was convicted of a payroll robbery in 1946 and died of lung cancer in 1957.
