Jack "Machine Gun" McGurn

Born Vincenzo Gibaldi, but inclined toward a more Irish name, Jack McGurn was a North Side gunman joining Capone’s outfit, where he earned the nickname “Machine Gun Jack.” He didn’t care much for the nickname, however, and swore that he had never owned anything but a pistol. McGurn was a prime suspect in the Valentine’s Day Massacre, but his girlfriend, the long-legged and sylph-like Louise Rolfe provided him an alibi. McGurn was a snappy dresser and an accomplished golfer. After Capone’s imprisonment, he faded from prominence—although his assassination in 1936 made big headlines.
