Guiseppe "Joe" Aiello

One of the most powerful men in Chicago, Aiello resented Capone’s attempts to control the powerful Unione Siciliana, which had 15,000 members and enormous political influence in Chicago’s Little Italy neighborhood. Capone’s man at the Unione was Tony Lombardo, who was almost as powerful as Capone thanks to his ability to influence police and politicians. Aiello supposedly offered a chef $35,000 to poison Lombardo and Capone. That sort of thing didn’t go over well. In 1930, a machine gun attack blasted his insides out.
